CONGRATULATIONS ON PROMOTION.
Another great season, well done.
26th Jan 2008: EVERTON 5-3 GREENWOOD
This eagerly awaited derby produced 8 goals and lots of excitement at Coffey's Field before Everton claimed all three points to continue their push at the top of the league. Greenwood started the better of the two teams, and pounced on a defensive slip to take the lead 6 minutes in. This seemed to wake Everton a little, and they were on top until they equalised on 13 minutes, when skipper Conor O Sullivan put Alex Ulian through to finish smartly. Greenwood however produced a carbon copy of their openerto lead two-one at the break.
Harsh words in the Everton camp at
half time and two substitutions were made in an effort to turn
the game. One of the subs however, Daniel Martin, was unlucky
to put through his own net to increase Greenwood's early in the
half before Alex Ulian popped up again to reduce the deficit in
the 50th minute. 10 minutes later Alex completed his hat-trick
to draw the sides level and give Everton all to play for. Just
two minutes later Ryan O Shea's shot was parried but made it over
the line to nudge Everton head for the first time and, with Everton's
fitness coming to the fore, Alex Ulian netted his fourth and Everton's
fifth with 3 minutes left on the clock. Greenwood still had time
to hit the crossbar before the end but it was Everton who left
the pitch with three points and local bragging rights secured.
Terry and Ivan were pleased with the result but were quick to
acknowledge there is better in this side, and a need to produce
it too, if consecutive titles are to be realised.

26th Dec; Carrigaline United 1-5 Everton
No turkey hangovers for this Everton side, as they visited Carrigaline and left with 3 points. They continued their recent trend of improving in every game, and with the cancellation of their final fixture of 2007 later in the week, the champions of U13 Division 4 finished the calendar year without losing a single league game. The game started tightly, with Everton going close through Joseph O Donoghue after 10 minutes. Everton began to dominate and took the lead after 26 minutes when Alex Ulian struck home following a corner. Everton missed a penalty two minutes later, but it didn't phase them at all. Fast thinking at a throw ball by Joseph O Donoghue sent Ryan O Shea in to make it two nil at half time. 10 minutes into the second half, with only one team in the game, Ryan O Shea finished a Kelvin Connolly cross to make it 3-0. He completed his hat trick five minutes later. A fantastic team defensive performance was slightly tarnished when Carrigaline struck, but it was 5-1 with 7 minutes to go when Colin Sheehan broke the offside trap and finished well. A team in form at the moment, Everton remain well in the hunt in the title race.

15th Dec ; Everton 2-2 Park United
The first big test for these two early pacesetters provided an exciting game, where both teams could have won or lost. Everton started badly and Park went one up from an early corner. Everton gradually got back into it, and had many chances before equalising through Alex Ulian with 27 minutes gone. 1 all at the break, it looked like Everton would pay for their first half missed chances as Park had the better of the game and went ahead again 15 minutes in. The lead didn't last long, with Ryan O Shea equalising with a strike from the edge of the box four minutes later. Shane Smith had a chance for Everton, and at the other end keeper Shane Mc Donnell pulled off 3 saves, with the final one being beyond his years. However, neither team broke the deadlock, and both teams retained their unbeaten league starts. Everton's first real test since moving up a division proved they are right at home, near the top of the table.

17th Nov : Leeds A 4-6 Everton
Following a 2-2 draw in Cobh on their
last league outing, Everton U14 returned to winning ways with
a good performance away to Leeds A. Leeds had the better of the
early exchanges, but Everton sprung from the traps in the fourth
minute, when Kelvin Connolly began to give the Leeds right full
the first of many problems. He zoomed past the hapless defender
and swung in a cross which was finished well by winger Joseph
O Donoghue. Everton then took control and ten minutes later doubled
the lead when Connolly repeated his trick and the impressive Ryan
O Shea headed home. The same pair made it three after 25 minutes
and the visitors looked comfortable, before a resiliant Leeds
pulled one back to trail 3-1 at the break.
Leeds again started well in the the second half, but the Everton
defence stood strong, and the game was finished 10 minutes in,
when Ryan O Shea completed his hat trick with a wonderful finish
from the edge of the box. Kelvin "I am the best Everton player
in the family" Connolly then got the goal his performance
deserved, before taking his assist count to four by setting up
Joe O Donoghue for his third goal in two games to leave Everton
six- one up with 15 minutes left, and seemingly of sight.
Leeds though never gave up and scored
twice in three minutes soon after to bring the score back to 6-3.
And when they added another with five minutes remaining Everton
looked a touch nervous. But they steadied themselves well and
held out for a deserved three points.
3rd November; Springfield Ramblers 2-2 Everton
This crop of players made it 12 months unbeaten in the league, with a 2-2 draw away in Cobh on Saturday morning. Winger Joseph O Donoghue was unable to start, due to a knee injury sustained in training, but new signing Alex Ulian made his debut upfront. The game started evenly, with chances at both ends. Springfield took the lead midway through the first half, but Everton equalised soon after with a great run and shot by man of the match Dave Sweeney. Chances came and went for Everton who really should have been leading before a sucker punch with 5 minutes to go gave the home side the lead. The lead lasted less than a minute, when sub Joseph o Donoghue struck to equalise. Everton still had chances to win it, but couldn’t find the net. It is a testament to how the players have developed that they left Cobh unhappy with a point, that 12 months previously would have been greeted with delight. Every point dropped in this division could be crucial this season, but Everton are happy that their destiny remains in their own hands.

20th October; U14 Friendly; Temple United 2-4 Everton
Everton visited Premier League side Temple Utd and showed the team three divisions above them how good they can be. Everton were the better side from the kick off and Ryan O Shea led the attack on the home goal. It was midfielder Corey O Connor who gave Everton the lead on 18 when he struck the net from distance. Temple equalised 10 minutes later and it was level at the break. Debutabt Alex Ulian came on at half time, and made an instant impact with an overhead goal from an early second half corner. He made it three one soon after with a super run and finish. The match was over as a contest when Aaron Pender made it four one after breaking the offside trap. Temple scored a consolation late on but the damage was done. Everton U14 have raised the bar for themselves with a classy and mature performance in what was a tighter top level clash than they had ever played in. The defense was rock solid, the four midfielders were well on top of the 5 man Temple outfit, and the three strikers worked on their defence all game long.

7th October; Avondale United 1-4 Everton
Everton returned to winning ways and made it 2 from 2 in the league with a good away performance on Sunday afternoon. The visitors were on top from the beginning with Ryan O Shea giving them an early lead. Avondale equalised from a corner to leave it level at the break. The half time team talk just said “same again” as the visitors were well on top. Further goals by O Shea (2) and skipper Conor O Sullivan made it 4-1 for Everton. It would be unfair to single anyone out as man of the match, on a day when all 16 players worked hard and showed some great skill levels.
22nd September; National Cup; Passage United 4-1 Everton
A bad day for the U14’s when they travelled to Passage in the National Cup. A goal down from an early corner Everton rallied and could have gone in at the break level. Even when Passage went 2 up early in the second half, Everton had 3 great chances to get on the score-sheet. Passage made the visitors pay with 2 more goals before Shane Smith pulled one back. Best for Everton were Craig Martin and new signing Dave Sweeney.
